RTBP supports Young Carers

Across London, there are thousands of children registered as young carers. These children give their time and energy to family members in need, so we wanted to give something back to them. In July and August this year, we provided several half- and full-day cruises for children registered with Richmond Young Carers.

The children got to spend quality time with their parent(s) and enjoy the slower pace of being on the river, looking for wildlife and watching the scenery pass by. We could tell that everyone had enjoyed their time with us, but what we couldn’t anticipate is just how eager they were to join us again.

We’ll be running more half-day cruises for Richmond Young Carers in October and nearly all of the families who came in the Summer have rebooked! As the weather will be cooler than the Summer cruises, we’ll make sure there are lots of indoor activities available, including a Hallowe’en theme.
