We had a very busy 2019, celebrating 30 years of the River Thames Boat Project. Thank you to everyone that supported us at our events and helped to raise much needed funds.
We had to put 2020 events on hold in March due to the COVID-19 situation and government restrictions. In January and February 2020 we enjoyed : two short cruises for Friends, volunteers and supporters; our first RTBP Quiz Night which raised just under £1,300; a film night onboard Thames Venturer; a busy waterstation manned by volunteers at the Hampton Court Half Marathon with a great RTBP runner Phil, taking part.
We were delighted to be back on the river in September with some education days and a couple of cruises. Group events and activities were still not possible, but we gathered together via Zoom for our AGM in November and a Volunteer Christmas Social in December.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us in these difficult times.
Due to the lockdown in January 2021, we moved our Quiz Night to Zoom. We weren’t able to provide our usual fish & chips and a bar but we had a lot of fun and managed to raise just over £1,000! It was great to see friends, volunteers, supporters and family and to have a laugh together.
On 28th March, RTBP trustee Bob Darke and his running partner Phil Tauwhare ran a half marathon to raise funds for River Thames Boat Project. Their route included 2 parks, 2 bridges and some riverside sections, including running past our boats at their mooring in Kingston. Thank you Bob and Phil for raising over £700! This will help fund more special time on the river from May/June onwards!
We have plans for May onwards once restrictions allow and we hope our next big event at the end of June will be a sponsored walk/run/cycle/kayak/paddleboard on and alongside the river. We also hope to do some short cruises for volunteers and Friends provided restrictions allow.
More details to follow soon….
