Thank you to everyone who has supported us in these difficult times!
We are doing things a bit differently as it has not been possible to meet face to face and get together in groups.
Highlights for 2020 events included some events before lockdown: two short cruises for Friends, volunteers and supporters in January and February; our first RTBP Quiz Night which raised just under £1,300; a film night onboard Thames Venturer; a busy waterstation manned by volunteers at the Hampton Court Half Marathon with a great RTBP runner Phil, taking part. Due to the subsequent lockdowns, we gathered via Zoom for our AGM in November and a Volunteer Christmas Social in December.
Moving into 2021, we were still in lockdown so we moved our Quiz Night to Zoom. We weren’t able to provide our usual fish & chips and a bar but we had a lot of fun and managed to raise just over £1,000! It was great to see friends, volunteers, supporters and family and to have a laugh together.
On 28th March, RTBP trustee Bob Darke and his running partner Phil Tauwhare ran a half marathon to raise funds. Their route included 2 parks, 2 bridges and some riverside sections, including running past our boats at their mooring in Kingston. Thank you Bob and Phil for raising over £700! This will help fund more special time on the river!
Our education days restarted in May and our cruises in June and we are enjoying some short cruises for volunteers and Friends over July and August to help with fundraising!
We are looking forward to being on the river on Sunday 11th July with St Mary with St Alban’s church for the annual River Blessing.
We have moved our next big event to September to manage the changing dates for the easing of restrictions. The weekend of the 11th and 12th September is in the diary for our sponsored walk/run/cycle/kayak/paddleboard on and alongside the river.
More details to follow soon….
