Many congratulations to Miranda Jaggers who has been awarded a BEM – Medal of the Order of the British Empire – in the 2019 New Year Honours for services to the River Thames Boat Project.
The Honours List recognises the achievements of a wide range of exceptional people across the United Kingdom. 70% of the recipients are people who have undertaken outstanding work in their local communities either in a voluntary or paid capacity. “I can’t believe I’ve been given the award”, said Miranda, “I’m absolutely delighted. I’d like to thank from the bottom of my heart those who nominated me, my former colleagues and all the volunteers I worked with who have helped make the River Thames Boat Project what it is today.”
Miranda will be receiving her award at the Tower of London on the 2nd April so we will share some pictures as soon as we can.
2019 marks 30 years of The River Thames Boat Project – a tremendous achievement. It will also be the first full year of operating two boats, making the charity well placed to deliver more days on the river to more beneficiaries and continue its mission to make the Thames accessible to as many people as possible.
We will keep you posted with more news, events and dates for the diary over the next few weeks.
