22nd March 2017 – Thank you Heathrow Community Fund!
In 2016, thanks to a generous donation from Heathrow Community Fund’s Communities for Tomorrow grants programme, the River Thames Boat Project were able pilot an exciting new project called Eco-Access.
“The charity was increasingly receiving cruising clients who were requesting short learning activities whilst on board, to boost their knowledge and understanding of the river environment, and develop awareness of the need for positive action to combat litter, pollution and climate change” Gemma, then Education Manager, River Thames Boat Project.
The Eco-Access project was designed by the then Education Manager to integrate some of the charity’s Eco Venturer education and learning activities (usually delivered only to schools and youth groups) into the Summer cruises for people with disabilities. The activities were designed to be as accessible and hands-on as possible, adapted to suit a variety of different ages and abilities.
